Final Days

but it was murder 
      just the same

murder by degrees

in slow motion,
     on a vast scale
     
       who is responsible?

they must be drug through
        the town square
                     
                     and made an
                          example of

Each of the last four decades have been hotter than the last.

We are at 2 degrees Fahrenheit above preindustrial levels. An increase to 3 degrees above preindustrial levels will render the earth uninhabitable. Even if we stopped all carbon emissions today, temperatures would continue to rise. We would still face catastrophe.

The U.S. military emitted 1.2 billion metric tons of carbon emissions between 2001 and 2017.

The U.S. House of Representatives just voted to pass a $778 billion military spending bill, an increase of $37 billion over last year.

As the world burns, our country tightens its grip on its slipping power.

Remember, the people in power are the ones we must put in the pillories, not our brethren.

We cannot put our faith into begging the power structures that got us here in the first place to suddenly grow a conscience. They must be washed away, or else we’ll all go down with them.
